They do not create the threads unless your code makes use of the feature that depends on the thread. All of these threads are daemon threads. Statement timeout thread. This thread is created if you execute any statement with a timeout. Only one thread is created no matter how many statements or connections. This thread lasts the lifetime of the VM. Implicit Connection Cache timeout thread. Used to enforce timeouts on the connection cache, and is enabled when at least one timeout property on the connection cache is enabled. There is one thread per connection cache. It lasts the lifetime of that connection cache. Fast Connection Failover Event handler thread: Listener thread to receive HA events from RAC. Started only when FCF is enabled. There is one thread per connection cache. It lasts the lifetime of that connection cache. FCF worker thread Processes UP/DOWN events: Started only when the events are being processed, and terminates after it is done its job. Runtime Load Balancing Event Handler thread: This is the listener thread that receives RLB events from RAC. Started only when FCF is enabled. There is one thread per connection cache. It lasts the lifetime of that connection cache. RLB Gravitate connection cache thread: This is started only when RLB is enabled, and when there is a need to gravitate connections in the cache to healthy instances. The thread terminates after it has finished its job. Oracle. Connection. Cache. Impl timeout thread: Deprecated. Started only when this old cache is used, to enforce timeouts on the old cache. There is one thread per connection cache. It lasts the lifetime of that connection cache. Back to Top. What permissions do the Oracle JDBC drivers require? In order to do those operations the code must be granted the appropriate permissions. It depends on what you are trying to do. Beginning with 1. Security. Manager is enabled. This requires quite a long list of permissions. In a secure environment you only want to grant the necessary permissions, so which permissions you grant depends on what your application is asking the drivers to do. The way to find out what permissions to grant is to look at the file ojdbc. This is a generic security policy file that you can use to grant the drivers all the necessary permissions. In most cases you will want to comment out many of the permissions since your app doesn't use the features that requires those permissions. This file depends on a number of system properties. To use this file you will have to define those properties using the - D option to the java command. The operations that require those permissions are enclosed in a do. Priviliged block. Other permissions must also be granted to the code that calls the drivers. Those operations are not enclosed in do. Priviliged blocks. Which is which was chosen so as to make it as difficult as possible to use the drivers to cause mischief. One noteworthy example is that the calling code needs the open socket permission when using the thin driver to open a connection. This is to prevent rogue code from using the drivers for a denial of service attack, among other reasons. You should use the types in the package oracle. Typically all that is required is to replace oracle. If that doesn't work then your code is using classes or methods that were never intended for public use. We did not remove the package or the classes it contains. This package is the core implementation code for the driver. We didn't renamed the packaged. What we did do is change the visibility of the classes and methods in the package. Most of the classes are now default (package) visible instead of public visible. Many of the internal implementation methods used to be public visible. Most are now more restricted. These are the changes that would cause source to give compile errors or compiled code to throw runtime errors. Back to Top. Installation. How do I install the Thin driver? See What are the different JAR files on the download page for? Starting from 1. 0. JDBC OCI driver is available for install with the OCI Instant Client feature, which does not require a complete Oracle client- installation. Please refer to the documentation on OCI Instant Client install. These two drivers are installed as part of the database installation. If the database was installed with Java support, these two drivers are already installed and available. See Can I load one of the classes files into the Oracle Server Java VM? Back to Top. Where can I get the files for my platform? The jar files are the same for all platforms. The shared library for the OCI driver is part of the Oracle client installation for each platform. You get it wherever you get the rest of the Oracle client install. See Are Oracle's JDBC zip and jar files identical on all platforms? As of 1. 0. 2, orai. REFERENCE COMPONENTS- SPEAKERSSPEAKERSUPDATED AUGUST 2. INTRODUCTION CLASS ACLASS BCLASS COTHER INTERESTING SPEAKERSS. E. T. FRIENDLY SPEAKERS LISTTHE WORLD'S BEST SPEAKER? READERS LETTERSINTERNAL LINKSSpeakers are, of course, the most difficult of all components to evaluate, even in the best of circumstances. This is because they are the least perfected of all the components and that doesn’t even take into account room requirements and sonic priorities. In my case, I also have the added burden that two of my main contributors are (or were) speaker manufacturers, some of whose products you will see as References below. Other associates are distributors of speaker lines. Accordingly, I made the only decision I could: All the choices in this category are mine alone. What I say to those who question my objectivity is; please closely read the rest of the References first to see my consistency and sensitivities, before making judgements on the few choices you may be understandingly skeptical about. Any final and true judgement concerning these (or any) specific components requires a personal listening session with them. If this list inspires such an event, it has been a success, no matter what the ultimate result. Behind the Curve. This is the component category in which I believe that I am most . While I am very confident that all the speakers that are included deserve to be there, I am just as confident that there are at least an equal number of others that are missing. I have heard some of the . I also used the word . I feel this component category requires a further distinction and an exception, because of its unique nature. All components, except speakers and cartridges, are generally accurate; at least when focusing on timbres and phasing etc. They have other problems; like losing information, dynamic compression etc. That's the reason for my choice of priorities. However, speakers have much more serious problems than the other components, which means you can't even assume that their basic timbre and phasing are natural and accurate. Accordingly, for many audiophiles, getting the timbres correct (accuracy) will be their first priority within this category, while . I generally agree with them. The Missing Behemoths. There are a growing number of loudspeakers, usually large and extremely expensive, that require the use of large, costly, complex and inferior amplifiers to help overcome their problems of design. These models are either downgraded or not References at all. Almost every speaker I have ever heard that has low sensitivity, and a difficult impedance, has the same problems; they sound . This is very difficult to achieve with multiple drivers, crossover points etc. In reality, these products are actually designed for people looking for . There should be 4 or 5 speakers in here. COINCIDENT PURE REFERENCE (EXTREME)The Pure Reference (PR) is the finest speaker I have ever heard overall*. It has finally replaced my 1. These two speakers are very similar in basic design philosophy, though their execution is quite different, mainly due to a decade's worth of improvements in (dynamic) driver technology. The PR is also unusually . This will include the long- term history, and evolution, of my personal speaker references, plus the specific and detailed reasons why the Coincident Pure Reference has achieved its current status. Note- The lengthy write- up on this speaker can be found in the dedicated Pure Reference File.*Except for the . Amazingly, it isn't even their top- of- the- line model. Their best model, according to the manufacturer and distributor, is the Trio. Sadly, the Trio wasn't at the 2. CES, so we'll have something to look forward to another year. The Duo is the first horn loudspeaker I've heard that doesn't have obvious horn colorations. It also disappears as well as any horn speaker in my experience. The dynamic gradations are state of the art, just like other well executed horns, but that's not a surprise. It's sense of immediacy and transparency are amazing. We tried to find its . It passed a number of tough tests: massed violins, various voices, piano, woodwinds. Most impressively, it did this with digital sources, transistor amplification and ($1/ft) generic interconnect and speaker cable. If that wasn't enough, the listening room was mediocre. Despite all this, it provided the best sound at the show. I've only heard one other speaker in my life sound so good with so many obstacles to overcome. My associate agreed with my assessment, and, if anything, he was even more enthusiastic. The retail price is in the $ 1. There are two serious caveats: 1. The sound that impressed us so much came from the manufacturer's room, and not the distributor, which had various problems. It's obvious that setup is critical and there was only one listening seat that was optimum in both rooms. Neither of us was even close to being happy with the bass integration, which is the major weak point in the design. This could be a serious (disqualifying) problem for some listeners. The Trio's lower horn goes 7. Hz (1. 70 Hz Vs. 1. Hz) deeper into the bass, which should seriously reduce this problem. They also make a powered, horn subwoofer called the . They are supposed to be incredible, but they cost around $ 2. The extra (stock) bass modules, used in the distributor's room, did NOT help to alleviate this problem area in our opinion. IMPORTANT NEWS! I received this letter, in September 2. There is only slight editing. I was willing to give it a try with the Avantgarde Duo, and went to a showroom of Avantgarde close to my home in Germany. Surprisingly, they managed to give a demonstration of the . The newer drivers are something to listen to; they are a lot faster, more detailed .. After the Duo Omega we heard a Trio, and we liked the Duo! I then asked the reader for further information and clarification. This was his reply, and once again with only slight editing. They have a showroom near Duisburg/Germany. Krauss was demonstrating the Duo Omega and it was breathtaking compared to the regular Duo. The drivers are much faster. They show more detail, and not in the sense of beeing overly analytical, but in the sense of musicality.. The Duos will arrive in December and I will report and send pictures. My associates and I have heard the (regular) Duo on several occasions now, but only the manufacturer was able to impress us to the point of being . Readers should be acutely aware that while these speakers have . There's going to be trade- offs between these two speakers, despite what the manufacturer claims. In fact, I wonder who ? I went to the Avantgarde showroom with a friend of mine with the so called . It uses compression drivers in conjunction with sherical horns. You see we are horny guys. Unfortunately, it does not fit into my music room. So the Duos are the closest thing possible. The integration, in particular, is troublesome to me. Fortunately, a European reader, who owns a pair of Avantgarde's upscale Trios, may have come to the rescue. He was still bothered by the bass, and had a custom- made pair of subwoofers made. Here's his communication, with some slight editing (English is not his first language). As I found the overly eq. Their enclosures are made in a matrix manner, with 8. The drivers are Bert's own 1.
